Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe the activity and student learning outcomes in social studies learning through discussion method. This study uses classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques in this study using the test and non test. The test is in the form of an objective test includes multiple choice test and essay. While the non-test in the form of sheets of observation and questionnaire. Based on the research that has been done, there is an increase that occurs in every cycle. In the first cycle of learning outcomes of students scored an average of 48.91. Then in the second cycle occurs improving student learning outcomes at 82.61. Conclusions from this research that the discussion method can increase the activity and student learning outcomes in social studies on the subject of cultural diversity in Indonesia in Class V SDN Cimanggu

| Additional Information: | Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS melalui metode diskusi. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklusnya terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan tes dan non tes. Tes tersebut berupa tes objektif meliputi tes pilihan ganda dan essay. Sedangkan non tes berupa lembar observasi dan lembar wawancara. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, terdapat peningkatan yang terjadi disetiap siklusnya. Pada siklus pertama hasil belajar siswa mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 48,91. Kemudian pada siklus kedua terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa sebesar 82,61. Simpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa metode diskusi dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS dengan pokok bahasan keanekaragaman budaya di Indonesia di Kelas V SDN Cimanggu | |||||||||
