Abstract

Component of inflation many influenced by the price which is supply of seasonal goods. In addition there is a component of price depends on government policies (administrated value). The second component constituent of inflation that is non-fundamental. Supply and demand for goods or services can lead to changes in the price of a commodity. This study aimed to determine the effect four kinds of commodity price volatility on inflation in Banten by using the time period 2010.01-2015.12. The research data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and Bank Indonesia's Banten province. During a period of 5 years, four kinds of commodity groups has advantages in the highest consumption rate in Banten. In this study using four independent variables that is volatility of first commodity (Foodstuffs), volatility of second commodity (Food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco), volatility of third commodity (Clothing) and Volatility of fourth commodity (Transport, communications, and Financial Services). The method used is panel data, which is done with 3 crossection namely Cilegon City, Serang and Tangerang. Produce research results show that that the volatility of first commodity (Foodstuffs) and fourth commodity (Transport, communications, and Financial Services) positive and significant effect on Inflation in Banten with a 10% significance.
