Abstract

English teachers who have started teaching online or concerned about the teaching English using technology before 2010, should have already known about certain software that can be used to create several kinds of quizzes, or web-based exercises, known as Hot Potatoes. Having the skills to create quizzes using the software become the stepping-stone of the abilities to create varieties of quiz formats in many kinds of LMS platforms within this era, according to the writer experience. However, different platforms have different techniques in letting the teachers create their own quizzes. In Hot Potatoes Suite, there are five different tools provided that can help teachers create multiple choice, true-false, close-test/ fill-in-the blank, and mix-sentence exercises. Therefore, in this article the writer would like to answer the questions whether the features or quiz formats provided in Edmodo, Google Classroom/Form, Quizzes, the same with features provided in Hot Potatoes Suite; How do the teachers add audio or video files for the listening quiz in the platforms? How do the teachers set the time to restrict the students complete certain quiz? Etc.
