Abstract

Functional reading is an essential skill for children with moderate intellectual disabilities to understand written information in daily life. However, intellectual limitations often cause these children to experience difficulties in recognizing and comprehending simple words. This condition requires the use of engaging and interactive learning media to support a more effective learning process. This study aimed to develop Augmented Reality (AR)–based flashcard learning media to improve the functional reading skills of children with moderate intellectual disabilities at SKhN 02 Lebak. The development model employed was ADDIE, which consists of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages, with formative evaluation applied. The research subjects consisted of three children with moderate intellectual disabilities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation, and learning achievement tests. The validation results showed that the media obtained an average score of 92.95% from material experts and 95.83% from media experts, which fall into the “very feasible” category. The effectiveness test using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the AR-based flashcard media was concluded to be very feasible and effective for use in teaching functional reading to children with moderate intellectual disabilities.

Namun, keterbatasan intelektual sering membuat anak kesulitan mengenali dan memahami kata sederhana. Kondisi ini memerlukan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif agar proses belajar lebih efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran flashcard berbasis Augmented Reality (AR) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca fungsional anak tunagrahita sedang di SKhN 02 Lebak. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah ADDIE yang meliputi tahap Analysis, Design, Development, dan Implementation, Evaluation dengan evaluasi bersifat formatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas tiga anak tunagrahita sedang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, validasi ahli, dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil validasi menunjukkan media memperoleh skor rata-rata 92,95% dari ahli materi dan 95,83% dari ahli media, termasuk kategori sangat layak. Uji efektivitas menggunakan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test menunjukkan Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest. Maka media flashcard berbasis AR dinyatakan sangat layak dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran membaca fungsional bagi anak tunagrahita sedang.
