Abstract
The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of the Cake application is effective in improving listening comprehension at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Sepatan. The researcher used quantitative methodology through quasi-experimental and purposive sampling as the research design. The sample of this research was VII.3 as the experimental class and VII.4 as the control class with 35 students in each class. The instrument used in this research was in the form a pre-test and post- test. The data were obtained from the students’ scores of pre-tests and post-tests were analyzed using IBM SPSS 30 version. The main finding of this research showed the result of an Independent T-test from students’ scores of post-tests, which was 0.001, which indicated a significant effect between the experimental class and control class. It could be concluded that the use of the Cake application was effective in improving listening comprehension at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Sepatan. It is suggested that the Cake application can be an alternative technique to teach listening comprehension.
