Abstract

Chicken eggshell waste in Indonesia has the potential to be used as a material for making wood substitute biocomposites because of its decreasing availability. The utilization of biocomposites becomes safer and more economical because it utilizes the availability of natural materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the composition of chicken eggshell powder filler and natural rubber matrix given to the thermal conductivity value of biocomposites and know the optimum value and parameters that most affect the results of thermal conductivity. This research uses chicken eggshell powder filler with a size of 100 mesh with variations in filler composition of 55%, 60%, 65% and liquid natural rubber matrix of 45%, 40%, and 35%. The stages of this research include the process of determining raw materials, sample preparation, sample manufacturing, and sample thermal conductivity testing. Thermal conductivity testing of samples using QTM-500 machine. The results of the thermal conductivity obtained is on each variation of the composition of the sample get a value range of 0.4040 W/m.K - 0.5981 W/m.K for sample A, a range of 0.4133 W/m.K - 0.6415 W/m.K for sample B, and a range of 0.2618 W/m.K - 0.5739 W/m.K for sample C. The optimum variation of the sample was obtained at 65% filler composition, 40 MPa pressure, 170oC temperature, and 60 minutes time. The parameters that have the highest influence are temperature and time during the Hot Press process.

Additional Information: Limbah cangkang telur ayam yang melimpah di Indonesia berpotensi untuk dapat dijadikan bahan pembuatan biokomposit pengganti kayu karena ketersediannya semakin menipis. Pemanfaatan biokomposit menjadi lebih aman dan bernilai ekonomis karena memanfaatkan ketersediaan bahan-bahan alami. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi dari komposisi filler serbuk cangkang telur ayam dan matriks karet alam yang diberikan terhadap nilai konduktivitas termal biokomposit dan mengetahui nilai optimum serta parameter yang paling berpengaruh terhadap hasil konduktivitas termal. Penelitian ini menggunakan filler serbuk cangkang telur ayam dengan ukuran 100 mesh dengan variasi komposisi filler 55%, 60%, 65% dan matriks karet alam cair 45%, 40%, dan 35%. Tahapan penelitian ini meliputi proses penentuan raw materials, preparasi sampel, manufaktur sampel, serta pengujian konduktivitas termal sampel. Pengujian konduktivitas termal sampel menggunakan mesin QTM-500. Hasil konduktivitas termal yang didapatkan adalah pada setiap variasi komposisi sampel mendapatkan nilai range sebesar 0,4040 W/m.K - 0,5981 W/m.K untuk sampel A, range sebesar 0,4133 W/m.K – 0,6415 W/m.K untuk sampel B, dan range sebesar 0,2618 W/m.K – 0,5739 W/m.K untuk sampel C. Variasi optimum sampel didapatkan pada komposisi filler 65%, tekanan 40 MPa, temperatur 170oC, dan waktu selama 60 menit. Parameter yang memiliki pengaruh tertinggi adalah temperatur dan waktu pada saat proses Hot Press.
