Abstract

Plantation and industrial waste have to be processed before disposal or used as other products/ derivatives. Derivative products of liquid waste can be made into composite materials, charcoal powder for printer ink, clay soil for fertilizer and other products. The derivative product is made by utilizing liquid waste from the processing of plantation products such as palm and rubber waste. The liquid waste is processed first using a rotary dryer machine where previously rotary dryer machine are used for food processing, plantation, industry, road and others. In this paper the process of making derivative products in the form of composite materials from liquid waste begins with the drying of palm oil and rubber waste by using rotary dryer machine. The product of drying in the form of soil, charcoal powder or rubber sand and made into a composite material using resin and catalyst. The composite material composition composition is arranged based on the volume fraction ratio of 20% to 40%. From the results of making this composite product is done tensile or bending test to know the mechanical properties of the composite so as to obtain the characteristics of this material strength. The test results showed the tensile force for the rubber composite material with the composition of 85/15 is 150 Kgf and the tensile stress is 2.5 Kgf / mm2. As for palm composite materials with percentage 85/15 has a force of 30 Kgf and a tensile is 0.5 Kgf / mm2. In the composition of palm with a percentage of 65/35 has a force of 110 Kgf and a tensile is 1.83 Kgf / mm2 .
