Abstract

University course scheduling is a very important matter in the management of tertiary institutions. In the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Sultan Ageng Tirtaysa University, university course scheduling is still done manually. So that many obstacles complicate the process of preparing the schedule. Among them, there are still many clashes between courses, lecturers, and students and the use of space is not optimal. This study aims to determine the number of rooms needed during lectures by developing a mathematical model of the university course schedule. The mathematical model developed is the Integer Linear Programming (ILP) mathematical model with the objective function of maximizing the number of rooms needed. Problem-solving in research uses an analytical approach (optimization) with deterministic parameters. The model can provide suggestions for decision-making in the implementation of offline lectures, including determining the university course scheduling and the number of rooms needed. The data that has been obtained is then processed using Microsoft Excel and Lingo 18.0 software. The computational model results show that the developed model can provide solutions for each variable needed and produce an optimal number of rooms as many as five classrooms.

Additional Information: Penjadwalan perkuliahan merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting dalam pengelolaan perguruan tinggi. Pada Jurusan Teknik Industri Fakultas Teknik Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtaysa melakukan penjadwalan perkuliahan namun masih dilakukan secara manual. Sehingga banyak kendala yang menyulitkan proses penyusunan jadwal. Diantaranya masih banyak terjadi bentrok antar mata kuliah, dosen dan mahasiswa serta penggunaan ruangan yang tidak optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah ruangan yang dibutuhkan selama pelaksanaan perkuliahan berlangsung dengan mengembangkan model matematika dari penjadwalan perkuliahan. Model matematika yang dikembangkan adalah model matematika Integer Linear Programming (ILP) dengan fungsi tujuan maksimasi jumlah ruangan yang dibutuhkan. Pemecahan masalah dalam penelitian menggunakan pendekatan analitis (optimisasi) dengan parameter deterministik. Model dapat memberikan usulan untuk pengambilan keputusan dalam pelaksanaan perkuliahan secara offline, diantaranya menentukan jadwal perkuliahan dan jumlah ruangan yang dibutuhkan. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian diolah dengan menggunakan software Microsoft Excel dan Lingo 18.0. Hasil komputasi model menunjukan model yang dikembangkan dapat memberikan solusi untuk setiap variabel yang dibutuhkan dan menghasilkan jumlah ruangan optimal sebanyak lima ruang kelas.
