note: Forklift 10 ton merupakan aset strategis di pelabuhan, namun Perusahaan ABC menghadapi penurunan utilisasi dan seluruh unit telah melewati umur ekonomis, menimbulkan ketidakpastian pengelolaan aset. Penelitian diperlukan untuk menilai opsi terbaik—mempertahankan, mengganti dengan unit baru, atau menyewa—agar efisiensi biaya dan operasional tetap optimal. Dengan mengintegrasikan total cost of ownership (TCO) dan single exponential smoothing (SES), penelitian ini memberikan dasar pengambilan keputusan strategis berdasarkan biaya dan proyeksi pemanfaatan forklift Hasil menunjukkan bahwa hasil peramalan utilisasi forklift 10 ton menggunakan metode Single exponential smoothing (SES) mengindikasikan adanya variasi dan kecenderungan penurunan utilisasi pada beberapa unit, sehingga diperlukan evaluasi strategis dalam pengelolaan aset. Analisis kelayakan finansial berbasis Total cost of ownership (TCO) dan titik break even memperlihatkan bahwa forklift dengan utilisasi rendah lebih efisien dialihkan ke skema sewa, sementara forklift dengan utilisasi tinggi masih layak dipertahankan sebagai aset milik perusahaan. Berdasarkan integrasi seluruh analisis tersebut, keputusan pengelolaan forklift terbaik bersifat selektif, dengan kombinasi mempertahankan unit yang efisien, memanfaatkan sewa untuk kebutuhan jangka pendek, serta mempertimbangkan pembelian forklift baru sebagai strategi jangka panjang apabila utilisasi meningkat secara stabil.
abstract: Forklifts with a 10-ton capacity are strategic assets in port operations; however, Company ABC is experiencing a decline in utilization, and all existing units have exceeded their economic life, resulting in uncertainty in asset management. This study is therefore required to evaluate the most appropriate option—whether to retain existing forklifts, replace them with new units, or utilize rental forklifts—in order to maintain cost efficiency and operational effectiveness. By integrating Total cost of ownership (TCO) and Single exponential smoothing (SES), this research provides a strategic decision-making basis grounded in cost analysis and utilization projections. The results indicate that the utilization forecasting of 10-ton forklifts using the Single exponential smoothing (SES) method shows variability and a downward trend in utilization for several units, highlighting the need for a strategic evaluation of asset management. Financial feasibility analysis based on Total cost of ownership (TCO) and break-even analysis reveals that forklifts with low utilization are more cost-efficient when shifted to a rental scheme, while forklifts with high utilization remain feasible to be retained as company-owned assets. Based on the integration of all analyses, the optimal forklift management decision is selective in nature, combining the retention of efficient units, the use of rental forklifts for short-term needs, and the consideration of purchasing new forklifts as a long-term strategy if utilization increases consistently.
