Batang talas beneng mempunyai serat selulosa yang diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kualitas biofoam. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu dan waktu pretreatment alkali terhadap kandungan lignoselulosa pada batang talas beneng sebagai serat selulosa melalui 3 tahapan proses yaitu pretreatment, delignifikasi, dan bleaching serta dilanjutkan dengan pengujian kandungan lignoselulosa. Proses pretreatment dilakukan dengan menggunakan pelarut alkali NaOH 1% dengan variabel operasi berupa temperatur 60°C, 70°C, dan 80°C dan waktu 60, 90, dan 120 menit. Proses delignifikasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan Na2SO3 20% dan H2O2 2% sebagai agen pemutih. Dari hasil analisis kadar lignoselulosa, pretreatment yang menghasilkan rendemen selulosa terbesar yaitu terjadi pada kondisi operasi suhu 60°C selama 120 menit sebanyak 54%. abstract: Biofoam is an alternative to styrofoam packaging using the main raw materials in the form of starch and cellulose fiber so that the alternative packaging to replace styrofoam can decompose naturally. Beneng taro stems have cellulose fibers that can improve the quality of biofoam. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature and time of alkali pretreatment on the lignocellulose content in Beneng taro stems as cellulose fibers through 3 stages of the process, namely pretreatment, delignification, and bleaching and continued with testing the lignocellulose content. The pretreatment process was carried out using 1% NaOH alkali solvent with operating variables in the form of temperatures of 60°C, 70°C, and 80°C and times of 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The delignification process was carried out using 20% Na2SO3 and 2% H2O2 as bleaching agents.
