"The sand mining industry in Batukuda Village has both positive and negative \r\nimpacts. The positive impact of sand mining can create jobs for the surrounding \r\ncommunity, while the negative impact can cause land degradation and result in \r\nunequal distribution of resource benefits. This study uses John Rawls's theory of \r\ndistributive justice (1971) as its analysis and theoretical review.\r\nThis study aims to examine distributive justice in the Batukuda Village community. \r\nThis study uses a case study method with a qualitative approach. The formal object \r\nof this study is the theory of distributive justice, while the material object is the \r\nproblems arising from environmental injustice.\r\nThe results and discussion of this study indicate that distributive justice has not yet \r\nbeen realized in the Batukuda Village community. Consequently, the Batukuda \r\nVillage community experiences conflict between the upper-class community \r\nstructure, the mining sector, and the lower-class community structure, the \r\ncommunity most impacted by the sand mining. This study concludes that the \r\ndistributive justice achieved by the Batukuda Village community meets the \r\nstandards of fulfilling the principles of equal freedom and equality. The principle \r\nof equal freedom has not succeeded in maintaining private property rights, namely \r\nthe retention of land and buildings owned by the Batukuda Village community. The \r\nprinciple of equality is illustrated by the lack of compensation received by affected \r\ncommunities, leading those most affected to pursue livelihood strategies by seeking \r\nopportunities from the sand mine, such as collecting fees from passing trucks or \r\nbecoming road sweepers. The Batukuda Village government's role is limited to \r\nmediating between the sand mine and the community.
