"Feed is a key factor in the success of freshwater pomfret (Colossoma macropomum) \r\nculture; however, the high cost of commercial feed reduces production efficiency and \r\nhighlights the need for affordable, nutritious, and sustainable feed alternatives. Maggot has \r\nstrong potential as a supplementary feed source due to its high protein content, ease of \r\ncultivation, and environmental benefits. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of \r\ncombining commercial feed and maggot on the growth performance of freshwater pomfret \r\nand to determine the optimum formulation. The experiment was conducted for 40 days \r\nusing a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications: \r\nA (100% commercial feed), B (75% commercial feed + 25% maggot), C (50% commercial \r\nfeed + 50% maggot), D (25% commercial feed + 75% maggot), and E (100% maggot). \r\nObserved parameters included absolute weight gain, daily growth rate, feed conversion \r\nratio (FCR), survival rate, protein retention, lipid retention, and water quality. The results \r\nshowed that treatment B produced the highest weight gain and daily growth rate as well as \r\nthe lowest FCR, indicating greater feed efficiency. The highest protein retention was also \r\nrecorded in treatment B, while the highest lipid retention occurred in treatment E. Survival \r\nrates reached 100% across all treatments and water quality parameters remained within \r\noptimal ranges throughout the study. It can be concluded that partial substitution of \r\ncommercial feed with 25% maggot is the most effective strategy for enhancing freshwater \r\npomfret growth performance, whereas the use of maggot as the sole feed source does not \r\nsupport optimal growth."^^ .
