description: Nurse scheduling is an important aspect in ensuring smooth hospital operations.   This study aims to design a mathematical model for nurse scheduling to minimize   the number of nurses while optimizing performance-based scheduling in the adult   inpatient unit of XYZ Hospital. The main problem faced is that nurse scheduling is   still done manually, resulting in suboptimal utilization of labor, shift distribution,   and workload distribution. The method used is a quantitative approach with integer   linear programming (ILP) modeling solved using Lingo software with the Branch   and Bound method. The model was developed by considering hospital policies,   employment regulations, the number of nurses required for each shift, and nurse   performance values. The results of the study show that the proposed model is   capable of producing optimal scheduling with fewer nurses than the actual schedule   and previous studies, without violating any of the applicable constraints. The   number of nurses can be minimized from 22 to 20 with an increase in the scheduling   objective function value. Thus, this model has been proven to improve the efficiency   of nurse utilization and produce a more equitable and proportional schedule.
