Plastic packaging film can also be made by adding active substances that have specific functions, such as antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. This study aims to obtain active packaging in the form of plastic packaging film from chitosan with additional ingredients in the form of bamboo leaf extract and to determine the effect of the concentration of bamboo leaf extract and chitosan on the physical and chemical characteristics of the resulting film packaging. This study was conducted with variations in chitosan concentration of 2%, 3%, and 4% and Antioxidant of Bamboo Leaves (AOB) 0.4%; 0.5%; and 0.6% using the casting method, which involves dissolving the materials, then heating and drying them using molds. The tests conducted included water resistance, tensile strength and elongation, FTIR, biodegradation, antioxidant, and antimicrobial tests. The results show that an increase in AOB concentration can increase tensile strength and compact the film structure from 4.04 MPa to 5.06 MPa, as well as increase the rate of biodegradation and have a positive effect on antioxidant activity with a value of 17223.23 mg/kg.
