This study aims to analyze the effect of group guidance with the brainstorming technique on students’ interpersonal communication skills. A quantitative approach was employed using a preexperimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of six ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 18 Kota Serang in the 2025/2026 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an interpersonal communication skills questionnaire and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. The results showed that the mean score of students’ interpersonal communication skills before and after the implementation of group guidance using the brainstorming technique was 62.8, with a t value of –20.180 and a significance level (p-value) < 0.05. These findings indicate that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, demonstrating a significant effect of group guidance using the brainstorming technique on students’ interpersonal communication skills. The study concludes that group guidance with the brainstorming technique plays an important role in improving students’ interpersonal communication skills in school settings. Therefore, school counselors are encouraged to implement brainstorming-based group guidance as an alternative intervention to enhance students’ active participation and social interaction.
