Self-esteem is an important aspect of students’ development; however, the results of the initial assessment indicated that several students at SMP Negeri 4 Cilegon had low self-esteem. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of reality counseling services in improving students’ self-esteem. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of five students selected based on the initial assessment, comprising three students in the experimental group who received reality counseling services and two students in the control group who received basic counseling services without a specific technique. The research instrument used was the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), supported by observation and documentation. Data analysis was conducted by comparing pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed that the pre-test scores of all students were at a score of 10. After the treatment was administered, the post-test scores of the experimental group increased to 20, 21, and 20, while the control group did not show a significant improvement. Thus, reality counseling is effective in improving students’ self-esteem compared to basic counseling without a specific technique. Self-esteem merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan peserta didik, namun hasil asesmen awal menunjukkan adanya peserta didik dengan self-esteem rendah di SMP Negeri 4 Cilegon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas layanan konseling teknik realitas dalam meningkatkan self-esteem peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah lima peserta didik yang dipilih berdasarkan asesmen awal, terdiri atas tiga peserta didik kelompok eksperimen yang mendapatkan layanan konseling teknik realitas dan dua peserta didik kelompok kontrol yang mendapatkan layanan konseling dasar tanpa teknik khusus. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) yang didukung observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan membandingkan skor pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor pre-test seluruh peserta didik berada pada nilai 10. Setelah perlakuan diberikan, skor post-test kelompok eksperimen meningkat menjadi 20, 21, dan 20, sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, konseling teknik realitas efektif dalam meningkatkan self-esteem peserta didik dibandingkan konseling dasar tanpa teknik khusus.
