This study aims to describe the impact of using digital comics and short films on improving short story writing skills in ninth-grade students at SMPN 14 Kota Serang. The research approach used is a quantitative-based experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling, with class IX-A as the experimental group and class IX-B as the control group. Research data were collected through pretest and posttest results of short story writing skills, with assessment instruments covering aspects of content, idea organization, vocabulary selection, accuracy of language use, and mechanical elements of writing. The results showed that the use of digital comics resulted in a pretest average score of 55.56, which increased to a posttest average score of 81.24, with an increase of 25.68 points. Meanwhile, the use of short films obtained an average pretest score of 48.40, which increased in the posttest to 67.12, with an increase of 18.72 points.
