The film portrays Mia’s journey as a young female heir who must confront a monarchical system that restricts women’s rights, particularly in leadership and marriage. This research employs a qualitative method by examining twelve selected units of analysis derived from key scenes in the film. The analysis is conducted through three levels of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth, in order to reveal symbolic meanings and underlying ideological messages related to gender representation. The findings indicate that the film represents feminism through Mia’s courage to question unjust royal laws, assert her autonomy, and demand equal rights within a patriarchal monarchical structure. At the mythological level, the film reflects a critique of traditional patriarchal values embedded in systems of power. Therefore, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement functions not only as entertainment but also as a medium that conveys messages of gender equality.&#13;
