The correctional environment, characterized by limited freedom of movement, loss of personal autonomy, and psychological pressure, has the potential to increase the risk of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress. A preliminary study conducted at Class III Rangkasbitung Correctional Facility indicated that the majority of inmates in early adulthood experienced relatively high levels of depression, anxiety, and stress, while structured guidance and counseling services were not yet optimally available. Therefore, this humanitarian project aimed to identify the mental health conditions of inmates, analyze their guidance and counseling needs, and design, implement, and evaluate a guidance and counseling program to support the mental health of inmates at the Class III Rangkasbitung Correctional Facility. This study employed a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach by actively involving inmates and correctional facility staff in a participatory manner. Data were collected through assessments using the DASS-21 instrument, interviews, and observations. The results of the program implementation showed a decrease in the levels of depression, anxiety, and stress among inmates after participating in guidance and counseling services. These findings indicate that guidance and counseling services developed based on inmates’ needs can make a positive contribution to improving the mental health of correctional inmates.
