By gaining the confidence of children, perpetrators are able to persuade them to comply with their wishes, such as sending nude photographs via instant messaging applications or engaging in video calls. When victims refuse to continue sending such images, perpetrators may threaten to disseminate the previously obtained images on social media. This research examines the role of the police in providing legal protection for child victims of sexual abuse through social media, known as child cyber grooming, as well as the forms of legal protection afforded to these victims. The theories applied in this study are crime prevention theory and legal protection theory, using a normative juridical research method with statutory and case approaches. The data sources consist of secondary data supported by interview results as additional data, and the data collection techniques include literature study and interviews. The findings indicate that the police implement preventive measures such as cyber patrols, requests for the takedown of pornographic content, and public awareness campaigns, alongside repressive measures through investigation and prosecution to protect child victims of sexual abuse through social media.
