description: Foster parents play a very important role in character building from an early age through their role as educators and mentors in the social environment of the orphanage. This is not only for the sake of idealistic educational outcomes, but also for the sake of producing the best generations. Therefore, a child's behavior or character depends on the role of foster parents as applied in the social environment of the orphanage. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of foster parents as educators and mentors in shaping the character of children at the Putra Asih Orphanage Foundation in Tangerang City. The approach used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive method and data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the research, the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) The role of foster parents as educators is to educate by verbally reprimanding children when they make mistakes and instilling discipline through scheduled positive activities, (2) The role of foster parents as mentors is to provide attention in the form of appreciation through praise, give guidance in every activity, act as facilitators in forming children's social relationships through social activities, and instill belief in God Almighty, set a good example by demonstrating good behavior to foster children in daily activities, and avoid negative behaviors for the sake of goodness.
