The most virulent Fusarium fungal strain is called Tropical Race 4 (TR4), which can infect both Cavendish and local banana varieties. To date, no effective control has been identified or successfully applied to overcome TR4. This study aims to test the effectiveness of three endophytic Fusarium isolates from wild banana in Pandeglang as biocontrol agents for Fusarium wilt disease. The method used is a pathogenicity test with nonpathogenic colonization by endophytic Fusarium and pathogenic colonization by TR4 assessed on tubers and leaves when inoculated separately on Cavendish and Rejang varieties, as well as optimizing the media for propagating endophytic Fusarium conidia with three media: potato, red bean, and mung bean. Isolates NMC276 and NMC281 are groups of Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium sp. grew optimally on potato media, while isolate NMC293 (Fusarium sp.) grew optimally on red bean media. This study demonstrated that the Rejang variety has higher resistance to TR4 compared to the Cavendish variety. Isolate NMC281 had a lower pathogenicity score compared to the other two isolates. Molecular analysis of fungal isolates obtained through reisolation from plants inoculated with specific primers confirmed that the reisolated isolate belongs to the genus Fusarium.
