Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis fenomenologi dan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu analisis dokumen, observasi, wawancara. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu Kepala Program Studi, guru produktif, dan 12 siswa dari kelas XII TPL 1 dan TPL 2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa capaian kompetensi siswa, khususnya dalam aspek penguasaan teori, masih tergolong rendah. Sebaliknya, keterampilan praktik siswa menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik, terutama dalam kegiatan pengelasan pelat baja. Namun demikian, dalam pengelasan posisi bawah tangan sesuai Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), baik pemahaman teori maupun keterampilan praktik masih perlu ditingkatkan. Pada aspek pemeriksaan visual hasil las, sebagian besar siswa telah memahami teori dasar dan mampu mengidentifikasi beberapa jenis cacat las, meskipun pemahaman terhadap standar internasional seperti ISO 5817 belum optimal. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi capaian kompetensi siswa antara lain lingkungan belajar, kedisiplinan, kebiasaan belajar, semangat, minat, ketersediaan bahan praktik, serta metode pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi hambatan tersebut, guru menerapkan berbagai strategi seperti peningkatan frekuensi praktik, pengelompokan siswa, penambahan jam belajar di luar jadwal, dan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran. Factors influencing students' competency levels include the learning environment, discipline, study habits, motivation, interest, availability of practical materials, and teaching methods.
