"Improving employee performance in high-risk industries can be achieved when\r\nsupported by adequate employee competencies. The main problem addressed in this\r\nstudy is how to enhance employee performance by equalizing employee\r\ncompetencies to support the implementation of a safety culture and reduce job\r\ninsecurity. This research applies a quantitative, associative-causal approach using\r\na dual mediation model. The study was conducted on employees of PT PLN\r\nIndonesia Power UBP Suralaya, with a total population of 527 employees. The\r\nstudy involves four variables with a total of 16 indicators; thus, the required sample\r\nsize was determined as 10 times the number of indicators, resulting in 160\r\nrespondents, selected using stratified proportional sampling. Data were collected\r\nvia an online questionnaire and analyzed using the SEM-PLS model with SmartPLS\r\nversion 4.0. The research findings indicate that five out of seven proposed\r\nhypotheses are supported, specifically: (1) competency has a positive and\r\nsignificant effect on employee performance; (2) competency has a positive and\r\nsignificant effect on safety culture; (3) competency has a negative and significant\r\neffect on job insecurity; (4) safety culture has a positive and significant effect on\r\nemployee performance; and (5) safety culture significantly and partially mediates\r\nthe effect of competency on employee performance. The study also found that job\r\ninsecurity does not significantly affect employee performance and does not mediate\r\nthe effect of competency on employee performance."^^ .
