Electronics Nuclear engineering description: The eel (Anguilla spp.) is a high-value aquaculture species whose cultivation and grow-out processes are often constrained by complex husbandry requirements and high operational costs. Successful eel farming necessitates the maintenance of optimal habitat conditions, which typically involves the use of continuous monitoring and automated systems that require significant electrical energy. To address energy consumption and operational sustainability, this study explores the integration of a solar power system (PLTS) in eel aquaculture, particularly for powering essential equipment during nighttime hours (18:00–05:00), while utilizing grid electricity (PLN) during daytime hours (06:00–17:00). The study aimed to evaluate water quality conditions, appropriate feed dosage, and the impact of solar energy utilization on the performance of the aquaculture system. Water parameters, including turbidity, pH, and temperature, were monitored over several days. Results indicated that turbidity levels exceeded the standard reference value (20 NTU) only on Day 5 (20.98 NTU) and Day 6 (20.44 NTU), primarily due to clogged filters requiring manual cleaning. Meanwhile, pH and temperature levels remained within optimal ranges (pH: 6.5–8.5; temperature: 27°C–32°C). An automated feeder delivering 21 grams of feed over a 5-second interval was utilized, contributing to a body length increase of 2 cm in eels after a 3-week grow-out period. These findings demonstrate that the combined use of an automatic feeding system and solar-powered monitoring technology can effectively support the growth and survival of eels while promoting sustainable energy use in aquaculture operations.
