Cellulose Microfibrils (CMF) possess desirable characteristics such as high specific surface area, high strength and stiffness, low weight, and are both biodegradable and renewable. CMF can be applied in various industries, including composites, automotive, pulp and paper, electronics, paints, and coatings. This study aimed to determine the cellulose content and yield obtained through alkalization and bleaching processes, as well as the particle size of CMF produced via acid hydrolysis. The process began with grinding and sieving Padina sp., followed by treatment with 0.5 M NaOH for alkalization and 12% H₂O₂ for bleaching to extract cellulose. The extracted cellulose was then hydrolyzed using sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) at varying concentrations of 40%, 45%, 50%, 55%, and 60% to produce CMF. Results showed that cellulose content increased from 26.93% to 63.47% after treatment, with a yield of 38.26%.
