The 5083 series aluminium is an alloy composed mainly of magnesium and a small amount of manganese. While 5083 series aluminium is lighter than other aluminium series, it exhibits relatively low hardness and mechanical strength. Therefore, the addition of other alloying elements is necessary to improve its mechanical properties, especially for applications in the automotive sector, such as electric vehicles (EVs). One method to enhance these properties involves the addition of manganese and the application of heat treatment. This research was conducted using recycled aluminium scrap through a metal casting process, with aluminium and silicon as the main components, and additional elements such as magnesium and manganese master alloys in varying compositions of 0.7%, 1.0%, and 1.3%. The samples then underwent heat treatment with homogenization temperatures of 225°C, 250°C, and 275°C. The results of the study show that all samples demonstrated ductile behavior, as evidenced by the tensile strength comparison between the cast products and the base metal. The ductility observed in the cast samples is attributed to diffusion during the heat treatment process.
