description: Pariban marriage in the Batak Toba community is an ideal and legitimate form of  marriage according to Batak Toba customary law. This marriage occurs between a  young man and his boru ni tulang (daughter of his mother's brother) or vice versa,  a woman with her anak ni namboru (daughter of her father's sister), commonly  referred to as saompu or blood-related marriage in Batak Toba customary society.  The theoretical framework used by the author is the theory of Sociological  Jurisprudence and the theory of Legal Events. The research method employed in  this thesis is the empirical juridical method, which relies on primary and secondary  data. Additionally, the author uses a qualitative problem approach. The data  analysis employed is qualitative data analysis that produces descriptive data. The  results of the case study conducted by the author indicate that the process of  implementing pariban marriage shows differences in the provision of dowry, where  discussions regarding the dowry are only held once, and the amount given must be  accepted by the female party. This marriage not only has financial aspects but also  entails moral and social responsibilities to maintain good relations between  families. Furthermore, pariban marriage can strengthen social ties and solidarity  within the community, which has implications for social stability and ease in  addressing family issues, thanks to the close kinship system between both parties.  The legal implications related to pariban marriage are that despite the prohibition  from the Catholic Church, the granting of dispensations and the implementation of  this marriage still respect local culture and customary law in the Karawaci  Tangerang area. Although there are concerns about hereditary diseases, these  implications are not very pronounced, as each individual has different genes and  fortunes. Therefore, the impact of pariban marriage, also known as consanguineous  marriage or incest, according to the Canon Law of the Catholic Church, cannot be  generalized.
