description: Introduction: Hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus are interrelated global health problems, with a high prevalence in Indonesia, including in Banten Province. Hypertension in diabetic patients increases the risk of cardiovascular complications and mortality. However, the relationship between hyperglycemia and hypertension in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is still controversial, so further research is needed. This study aims to analyze the relationship between hyperglycemia and the incidence of hypertension in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic of Banten Hospital in 2024. Method: This study used a retrospective observational analytic with a cross-sectional design approach. Sampling using simple random sampling technique from medical   records of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who met the inclusion criteria (n=95). Result of the 95 patients, 79 patients (83.2%) had hyperglycemia and 67 patients (70.5%)   had hypertension. Fisher's Exact Test results showed a significant relationship between hyperglycemia and hypertension with p value = 0,010 (p value < 0,005).  The Odds Ratio value was 4.060 (IK 95%: 1.332-12.374), indicating that patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with hyperglycemia had a 4 times greater risk of suffering from hypertension than those without hyperglycemia. Age and gender factors did not show a significant association with hypertension (p value > 0,005). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between hyperglycemia and the incidence of hypertension in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Banten Regional Hospital.
