description: Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq. L.) is a highly productive vegetable oil crop whose yield can be significantly impacted by weed due to weeds’ strong competitiveness and reproductive capacity. This study studies weed diversity and dominance in oil palm plantations at PTPN IV Cikasungka’s Unit throughout three planting years (2001, 2005, and 2009), as well as relationships with crop age, microclimate, and soil fertility. The dominant weed species varied by planting year, with Edrastima uniflora in 2001, Spermacoce alata in 2005, and Peperomia pellucida in 2009. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index showed moderate diversity for 2001, and high diversity for 2005 and 2009 plantations. The dominance index values indicated low overall weed dominance in all years. The correlation study revealed a significant beneficial correlation between Spermacoce alata and crop age and a strong negative correlation with Peperomia pellucida. Soil and microclimatic parameters also had an impact on weed dominance: Peperomia pellucida was inversely connected with soil and air temperature but favorably correlated with air humidity, whereas Spermacoce alata showed opposite trends. Spermacoce alata showed a negative correlation with soil pH, phosphorus and potassium, whereas Edrastima uniflora showed a positive correlation with organic carbon, cation exchange capacity, and al-dd.
