Electronics Nuclear engineering description: Unpredictable weather poses a challenge in drying clothes, especially for individuals with high mobility who are unable to monitor their laundry regularly. This research aims to design and implement a prototype of an automatic clothes drying system based on the Internet of things (IoT), utilizing a solar cell as the primary power source. The research method used is the Waterfall model, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, hardware and software implementation, and testing. The system consists of an ESP32 microcontroller, an LDR sensor and a raindrop sensor to detect light intensity and rainfall, a DC motor as the actuator, and two Li-Ion 18650 batteries charged by a 5V 1.1W solar panel. The software was developed using the Arduino IDE and the Blynk application for real-Time remote monitoring and control. Testing results show that the system can detect bright conditions when the LDR value is less than 1100 and no rain when the raindrop sensor value is greater than 2800, enabling the clothesline to operate automatically according to the weather. Sensor data and system status can be monitored through the Blynk app, and the system also supports manual control.
