description: This study aims to examine the effect of the Engineering Design Process (EDP) on students' scientific literacy concerning the concept of environmental pollution. The research employs a quantitative approach using a quasi  experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population of the study consisted of all 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang, with the sample comprising two classes: a control class and an   experimental class. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling. Data were collected through both test and non-test instruments. Data analysis was conducted using an independent samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS 25.0   software. The hypothesis testing results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of EDP on students' scientific literacy. The average scientific literacy score in the experimental class increased from 18.98 in the pretest to 89.64 in the posttest. The highest-scoring aspect of scientific literacy was the context aspect, with an average of 95.59. All stages of the EDP—define, learn, plan, try, test, and decide—contributed to improving students' scientific literacy. Each stage encouraged students to identify problems, understand scientific concepts, design solutions, try and test ideas, and make data-based decisions.
