However, incinerator combustion produces harmful exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC), among others, which can pollute the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the results of using a perforated plate-based catalytic converter made of copper (Cu) and mild steel (Fe) materials to reduce exhaust emissions from incinerators in the form of CO, HC, CO2 and O2 gases. The test method was carried out using a gas analyzer to compare the content of CO, HC, CO2, and O2 emissions before and after passing through the catalytic converter. The results showed that using a catalytic converter made of copper and mild steel can reduce CO emission levels by 73.35%, HC levels by 57.27%, CO2 levels by 58.54%, and increase O2 levels by 16.83%. EDX testing shows a decrease in the main element levels of each material. In the copper plate, the Cu content decreased from 95.167% to 91.096%. and there was an increase in the Hf element from 0.89% to 4.781% and Fe from 0.105% to 0.361%. For mild steel plates, the Fe element decreased from 94.038% to 83.421% and there was an increase in the Al element from 0.012% to 6.933% and Si from 0.036% to 1.936%.
