Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. 2025\r\nThis study was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students. Therefore, a solution to improve students' critical thinking skills is to implement the Problem-Based Learning model. This study was conducted at SMPN 1 Petir during the 2024/2025 academic year, second semester, with the aim of determining whether there is a difference and improvement in the critical thinking skills of students who receive the Problem-Based Learning model compared to the conventional learning model. The method used in this study was quantitative research with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was ninth-grade students at SMPN 1 Petir in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research sample consisted of two classes: IX E as the experimental class and IX F as the control class. The research instrument consisted of a critical thinking ability test. The results of this study indicate that there was an improvement in students' critical thinking abilities after the PBL learning model was implemented, and that students' critical thinking abilities using the PBL learning model were better than those using the conventional learning model."^^ .
