The Ciujung River is one of the main sources of water for the lives of the people of Banten Province. The water supply from the Ciujung River is used for industrial, agricultural, domestic household activities. However, this river is also a reservoir for waste for various human activities. In an effort to overcome this problem, in this study, Fe3O4/chitosan adsorbents were synthesized using the co-precipitation method. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Fe3O4/chitosan nanoparticles in adsorbing heavy metal ions Pb(II) on a laboratory scale and applying directly to Ciujung River water. The results of the characterization of Fe3O4/chitosan nanoparticles showed that the addition of chitosan polymers presented a new functional group derived from the main chain of chitosan and the crystal structure of Fe3O4 did not change. The adsorption test was performed with variations in the contact time of the adsorbate and adsorbent of Fe3O4/chitosan nanoparticles. The results obtained were then characterized using AAS.
