The synthesis was carried out by smoothing papaya skin and heating it using microwave, then characterization was carried out using UV-Vis spectrophotometer and photoluminescence (PL). The results showed that the Cdots produced had a cyan-colored luminescence when illuminated by UV light, with emission peaks in the range of 420-490 nm. UV-Vis analysis showed a change in absorbance spectrum after the addition of Fe³⁺, while PL analysis showed a change in emission intensity indicating a specific interaction between Cdots and Fe³⁺ ions.
