These challenges were caused by the limited teaching methods used, such as monotonous and uncreative worksheets, which hindered the development of their receptive language skills. The purpose of this study is to examine how the Montessori method can be applied to improve the receptive language abilities of children with autism at SKh Negeri 01 Kota Serang. This research employs a quantitative approach using an experimental design known as the “One Group Pre-test Post-test Design.” The research subjects consisted of three fourth-grade students with autism. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in the students’ receptive language abilities after receiving treatment through the Montessori method. This was evident in the increase of post-test scores compared to the pre-test scores across all receptive language indicators, which were structured in stages—starting from hearing, understanding, evaluating, and responding to instructions. Therefore, the Montessori method can be considered an effective approach to be integrated into learning programs to enhance the receptive language skills of children with autism.
