description: This study aims to identify the position of the agricultural sector within the economic structure of Banten Province and to examine its growth prospects based on structural shifts that occurred during the 2015–2024 period. The agricultural sector plays a vital role in regional economic development, particularly in supporting food security, providing employment, and promoting local resource-based development. However, ongoing structural transformation associated with economic growth may reduce the prominence of this sector. This research employs a quantitative approach using the Location Quotient (LQ) analysis to determine whether the agricultural sector functions as a basic or non-basic sector, and the Shift-Share analysis to assess the dynamics of change and the sector’s contribution to regional growth compared to other sectors. The study uses secondary data from the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant 2010 prices over the period of 2015–2024. The results show that in most areas of Banten Province, the agricultural sector is classified as a non-basic sector, indicating a relatively smaller contribution to the regional economy compared to the national average. Nevertheless, the shift-share analysis reveals that in certain areas, the agricultural sector continues to demonstrate positive growth, suggesting potential for further development. Thus, despite undergoing a shift, the agricultural sector still holds strategic importance and should be supported through development policies that emphasize local advantages and sustainability.
