Fisheries. Angling description: Market demand for Spirulina biomass is projected to increase by 10.5% by 2026. To meet this surge, production efficiency, particularly in the harvesting stage, must be enhanced. This study compares the efficiency of conventional harvesting (filtration) with electrocoagulation-flotation (ECF), which aggregates spirulina biomass using electric current, thereby minimizing loss due to inefficient filtration. Treatments included conventional filtration (K) and ECF with electrode surface-area variations: A1 (3 × 10 cm), A2 (5 × 10 cm) and A3 (7 × 10 cm) at a constant voltage of 3.5 V. Evaluated parameters included harvesting rate; wet biomass yield; ash content; water quality; iron (Fe) content; phycocyanin yield and electrode corrosion rate. The highest yield was obtained with treatment A2, namely 16,21±1.28 g—nearly double that of filtration (8,02±0.42 g). ECF proved faster and more efficient for industrial-scale harvesting, although filtration exhibited superior ash content and water quality.
