Citizens without professional skills are involved in journalistic activities as  citizen journalism. The purpose of the study is to see how the practice of citizen  journalism runs as a journalistic activity in reporting local issues on the Instagram  account @infoserang through a descriptive method using a qualitative approach and  perspective from the Five Basic Principles of Citizen Journalism Concept by Gilmour  and J.D Lasica, the 4C Social Media Management Theory by Chris Heuer and the  Motive Typology Concept by Marta Jack. The object of research in this study is the  Instagram account @infoserang. The research informants are the owner and manager  and three citizen journalists of the Instagram account @infoserang. The results of the  study show that the process of managing citizen journalism information by the  Instagram account @infoserang includes three main things, namely the process of  receiving, producing and publishing which fulfills the elements of the Five Basic  Principles of Citizen Journalism, while the optimization of Instagram as a medium  carried out by the Instagram account @infoserang prioritizes the management of  context and collaboration of posts, and the main motive for involvement in the practice  of citizen journalism on the Instagram account @infoserang is the motive for  disseminating information or information dissemination as an encouragement and  form of satisfaction in creating citizen journalism content.
