description: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the level of regional  financial independence in provincial governments in Indonesia during the period  2018–2023. Using a static panel method approach, the estimation results indicate  that the effectiveness of locally-generated revenue (PAD) and gross regional  domestic product (GRDP) per capita have a positive and significant effect on  regional financial independence. In other words, the higher the effectiveness of  PAD and GRDP per capita, the higher the level of regional financial independence.  Conversely, central government transfers have a negative and significant effect,  indicating that dependence on transfer funds actually reduces regional financial  independence. Meanwhile, investment and capital expenditure have no significant  effect on financial independence. These findings serve as an important basis for  policy formulation that focuses more on optimizing local revenue sources in order  to strengthen fiscal independence and reduce dependence on financial assistance  from the central government.
