description: This study aims to analyze the impact of the Jatiuwung Main Market in Tangerang City on the social and economic conditions of traders. The core issue addressed is the extent to which traders have experienced changes in their social and economic circumstances after operating in the market. The research is grounded in the importance of central markets as drivers of local economic activity, particularly in the agribusiness sector, and their role in enhancing traders’ welfare. The research was conducted from November 2024 to February 2025, involving 75 randomly selected traders from a total population of 300. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to examine the significance of changes before and after the traders began operating in the market. The results indicate a positive social impact, particularly in improved social interaction and community participation among traders. However, no significant changes were observed in terms of life satisfaction or access to health insurance. Economically, traders experienced a significant increase in income, but no notable improvements in savings or asset ownership, largely due to factors such as high operational costs and market competition. These findings imply that while the Jatiuwung Main Market has succeeded in stimulating social and economic activities, further efforts are needed to enhance traders’ overall welfare.
