note: Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi kegiatan perikanan sidat (Anguilla sp) di Kabupaten Pandeglang, Banten, mengingat sidat merupakan komoditas bernilai ekonomi tinggi dengan permintaan global yang terus meningkat, terutama dari Jepang. Budidaya sidat masih mengandalkan benih alami karena kesulitan pemijahan, sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan eksploitasi sumber daya alam. Penelitian difokuskan pada Sungai Cilemer dan Ciliman. Pada kedua lokasi tersebut belum ada data sebelumnya tentang aktivitas sidat, untuk mengidentifikasi kegiatan perikanan sidat (Anguilla sp) di Kabupaten Pandeglang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan penangkapan lebih intensif di Sungai Cilemer (9 nelayan) dibandingkan dengan Ciliman (3 nelayan), dengan dominasi penangkapan pada musim hujan saat air keruh, terutama pada malam hari, sesuai dengan sifat sidat yang nokturnal. Teknik penangkapan meliputi teknik pancing dan teknik goyang dengan menggunakan umpan cacing hidup. Hasil tangkapan bervariasi dari glass eel (6 cm) sampai silver eel (150 cm). Pemanfaatan hasil tangkapan lebih tinggi di Ciliman (dikonsumsi/dijual), sedangkan di Cilemer lebih banyak dibuang karena rasanya pahit dan durinya halus. Berdasarkan ciri morfologi, diduga jenis belut yang tertangkap adalah Anguilla bicolor (ladot) dan Anguilla marmorata (oleng). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pola aktivitas di kedua sungai tersebut. Sungai Cilemer lebih sering dijadikan lokasi penangkapan ikan intensif tanpa tujuan komersial, sedangkan di Sungai Ciliman lebih berorientasi pada pemanfaatan ekonomi dengan tujuan untuk dikonsumsi dan dijual.
abstract: This research identified eel (Anguilla sp) fisheries activities in Pandeglang Regency, Banten, considering that eel is a high economic value commodity with increasing global demand, especially from Japan. Eel cultivation still relies on natural seeds due to spawning difficulties, potentially increasing the exploitation of natural resources. The research focused on the Cilemer and Ciliman Rivers. In these two locations, no previous data on eel activity has been collected, to identify eel (Anguilla sp) fisheries activity in Pandeglang Regency. Results showed that fishing activities were more intensive in the Cilemer River (9 fishers) compared to Ciliman (3 fishers), with the dominance of fishing during the rainy season when the water is murky, especially at night, according to the nocturnal nature of eels. Catching techniques included fishing rod and shake techniques using live worm bait. Catches varied from glass eel (6 cm) to silver eel (150 cm). Utilization of the catch is higher in Ciliman (consume/sell), while in Cilemer it is often discarded due to bitter taste and fine spines. Based on morphological characteristics, the suspected species of eels caught were Anguilla bicolor (ladot) and Anguilla marmorata (oleng). This research concludes that there are differences in activity patterns in the two rivers. The Cilemer River is more often used as a location for intensive fishing without commercial purposes, while in the Ciliman River is more oriented towards economic use with the aim of consumption and sale.
