This study aims to determine the improvement in students' critical thinking skills after applying the PBL learning model to the basic laws of chemistry. This research is a quantitative quasi-experimental study using a pretest- posttest non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 31 students from class X2 as the control group and 31 students from class X3 as the experimental group at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang, selected using purposive sampling. This study consists of four instruments: teaching modules, worksheets, critical thinking ability questions, and observation sheets. The research data obtained were processed descriptively using Microsoft Excel and inferential analysis such as validity, reliability, N-gain, normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using SPSS 27.0. The results of the study indicate an improvement in students' critical thinking skills after the implementation of the PBL learning model. This was evidenced by the sig. (2-tailed) value in the hypothesis test of 0.004 < 0.05 in the control class and the experimental class, meaning that Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted.
