DAN Na-ALGINAT creator: Maretha, Yulia subject: SH Aquaculture. Fisheries. Angling description: The use of plastic has been so widespread in everyday life because of its versatile and economical nature. The right solution is needed to reduce dependence on conventional plastics. Agar and Na-alginate can produce polysaccharides, these materials have the potential to be used as ingredients in the manufacture of bioplastics. They are able to form polymers that are strong, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly. However, Na-alginate hydrocolloid-based bioplastics have a disadvantage in terms of low water resistance, in an effort to optimize the performance of agar and Na-alginate, the addition of crosslinkers is needed to improve the mechanical properties of bioplastics, especially in water resistance. The hydrophobicity of Na-alginate and agar can be improved through the addition of polyvalent metals, Calcium chloride on Ca²⁺ ions serves as a crosslinker that connects Na-alginate polymer chains, resulting in a stronger and more water resistant gel. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and the best concentration of calcium chloride (CaCl2). using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatment levels with the concentration of calcium chloride addition (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) and 3 replications. This research consisted of two stages. The first stage was the manufacture of Gracilaria sp. seaweed agar and the second stage was the manufacture of bioplastics. The results showed that 3% CaCl2 concentration was the best treatment with characteristic properties with a thickness of 0.13 mm, water resistance of 87.33%, opacity 12,23%, tensile strength of 25.22 MPa, elongation of 14.48%, and biodegradation results 30,33% date: 2025 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/1/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_Full%20text.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/3/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_01.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/4/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_02.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/5/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_03.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/6/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_04.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/7/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_05.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/8/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_Ref.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/50527/9/YULIA%20MARETHA_4443210006_lamp.pdf identifier: Maretha, Yulia (2025) PENGARUH KONSENTRASI KALSIUM KLORIDA (CaCl2) SEBAGAI CROSSLINKER TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK BIOPLASTIK BERBASIS AGAR (Gracilaria sp.)
