Salak peel was selected due to its abundance and underutilization. The synthesis process involved blending the salak peel with distilled water, then using a microwave. The resulting C-Dots were qualitatively tested under UV light and further characterized using UV-Vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. UV-Vis characterization showed that the C-Dots exhibited a primary absorbance peak at 272 nm, which shifted to 269 nm upon the addition of Fe³⁺ ions (10⁻⁶ M), accompanied by a decrease in absorbance intensity. This indicates complexation interactions between surface functional groups on the C-Dots and Fe³⁺ ions. PL analysis revealed an increase in emission intensity with a peak shift from 467 nm to 462 nm after Fe³⁺ addition, attributed to surface defect passivation by the metal ions.
