High schools subject: QA Mathematics description: This study aims to analyze the effect of conceptual understanding on mathematical problem-solving ability in gamification-based learning. The method used is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through pretests and posttests on two classes, namely the experimental class given gamification treatment and the control class with conventional learning. Meanwhile, qualitative data were obtained from observations, interviews, and student portfolios categorized into high, medium, and low groups. The material used in the study was the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) with learning media in the form of Wordwall and Google Sites. The results showed that gamification learning significantly improved students' conceptual understanding and mathematical problem-solving ability compared to conventional learning. There is a significant positive relationship between conceptual understanding and mathematical problem-solving ability. Students with high conceptual understanding tend to be better able to understand problems, plan strategies, solve problems, and re-check their work. Qualitatively, gamification provides a fun and challenging learning experience, increases motivation, and helps students build connections between concepts and their applications in solving problems.
