description: The Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Banten area serves as an important habitat for various bird species and holds great potential as a birdwatching destination. This study aims to identify the avifaunal diversity in the birdwatching tourist area of Tahura Banten. The research was conducted in the birdwatching interpretation trail at Tahura Banten. The study area was divided into three stations based on habitat characteristics: station I (mixed homogeneous forest), station II (secondary forest), and station III (old-growth forest). Avifauna data collection was carried out using the point count method. Diversity analysis employed the Margalef species richness index (R), Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), and Pielou’s evenness index (E). The results recorded the presence of 63 bird species belonging to 28 families. The species richness index reached a value of 9.29 (high category, R > 4), the diversity index was 3.68 (high category, H' > 3), and the species evenness index was 0.89 (moderate category, 0.31 ≤ E ≤ 1). This study reveals a high bird diversity in the Tahura Banten area, reflecting its value for biodiversity conservation and contextual learning. These data support the development of a vertebrate-focused learning booklet to improve students’ comprehension and environmental concern.
