description: The collapsible trap is passive fishing gear that has the several advantage in blue swimming crab fishing, i.e. the catch is still alive and fresh. The fishers commonly used trash fish as natural bait. However, the supply of natural is limited. The use of artificial bait is one of the alternative solutions to overcome this problem. One of the artificial baits that can be used is artificial bait made from green mussels. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of artificial bait made from green mussels on the productivity of catching swimming crabs using collapsible traps in Banten Bay. This research was conducted in September 2024 in Banten Bay. The completely randomized design using trap equipped with pony fish (control trap) and trap with artificial bait (tested trap). The formulation of artificial bait consists of 150 g green mussels and 75 g tapioca flour (G1), and 225 g and 75 g tapioca flour (G2). The data were analysed descriptively. The results showed that crabs were effectively attracted in trap with G2. These means that artificial bait using green mussels is potential enough to replace natural bait in blue swimming crab fishing using collapsible trap.
