However, not all parenting patterns have a positive impact. One parenting pattern that has a negative impact is toxic parenting. Toxic parenting is a form of inappropriate parenting pattern and has a negative impact on children's social, emotional and psychological development. Toxic parenting is a combination of several authoritarian parenting patterns, permissive parenting patterns, and neglectful parenting patterns. This parenting pattern can hinder children's psychosocial well-being and have long-term impacts on children's well-being. This study aims to determine the impact of toxic parenting patterns on the psychosocial well-being of children aged 5-6 years in Ujan Nain Housing, RT 007/005, Pondok Aren District, South Tangerang. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of the study consisted of 5 parents with toxic parenting patterns, 5 children aged 5-6 years, and 5 relatives/neighbors. Data collection techniques through observation, field notes, interviews, and documentation. The results of the data analysis stated that 1. The characteristics of toxic parenting patterns are excessive control over children, use of verbal and physical violence, demeaning criticism, emotional neglect, psychological manipulation, and attitudes that do not respect children's decisions. 2. Factors that cause parents to carry out toxic parenting patterns include negative childhood experiences of parents, economic pressure, lack of parental understanding of good parenting patterns, and unstable mental and emotional conditions of parents. 3.
